Post Need Trans to support 500hp

I know you guys are not going to like the fact that that I have chevy power but I could sure use some help. I have a 87 turbo with a LT1. I broke the gear box at the dragstrip today. I have 2 questions #1 does porsche make an automatic that will work in this application or have you seen or heard of a GM trans being installed in this application.# 2 what do I need to do to get rid of wheel hop . My car doesn't like to leave the line without extreme amounts of wheel hop I think that contributed to breaking the trans. Any help would be appreciated.

What you need in your Frankenstein is a 930 tranny it will handle your 500hp easily.

How do you call this a 944 'turbo' when there is no turbo. I think you need to bolt up a big 'ol turbo on that LT1 ... sounds like fun to me!

I think stiffer shocks help with the wheel hop also an LSD would prob help. I'm not big on drag racin' (yea haw) though soo take my advice w/ a grain of salt.

My buddy has a 914 with a 350 in it - scary quick little car.

Is this a conversion kit from Renegade or someone like that or a home brew?

Wow... I want to put a RX-7 rotary twin-turbo into a 914 one of these days. Super lightweight with 350hp potential...

Danno,

The 20B would be much better suited <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> about the same weight, less vacuum lines

My unit is a renegade kit Dwayne. What type of stiffer shock do you guys recommend. What type of mods have to be made for the 930 Tranny. New2porsche the reason I call it a Turbo is because as you know the turbo car is different from the regular 944 if I would have just called it a 944 the sugggestion would have been to get a turbo trans. To answer your other question I couldn't get the turbo to fit which may be a good thing because I can't get it down the track on pure motor. Best E.T is only a 12.40 @ 114 thats with a 2.0 60ft. After I get the computer tuned it should run 120 in the traps on motor and 140 on the nos. The thing I like is she looks bone stock except for the 968 wheels.
