Question All the recent "buyer beware" statements...

A question...

Would you guys use a "Rennlist Escrow" type service?

Something moderated or controlled by either Rennlist, or a trusted member of the lists, where the buyer sends money to that member or a Rennlist server/something, then the seller ships the part/whatever to you... You as the buyer say ok, and the money gets sent to the seller?

There would be a modest fee charged, discounted of course to real "live" Rennlist members of course -- but a small one none-the-less.

It could help.

Comments?

I have had mostly good experiences buying and selling on Rennlist, but a service like that would be a nice safety net.

Jay,

These do seem to be more common. Very good idea as unscrupulous sellers would be weeded out almost immediately by refusing to use the service.

But a Rennlist escrow service I would probably use, depending upon the cost.

Great idea.

Yeah, I like the idea, especially if I'm dealing with a non-rennlist member, or someone who only pops thier head into the boards once in a blue moon. (You know, someone wihout a lot of credentials)

But it will be cost dependant. If I'm buying something for $20, because I'm saving $10 from buying locally, but then the escrow charges $8, well then what's the bloody point????

See what I'm saying?

YES!!! I am currently having difficulty with someone ( non-member) who posted a classified here...and has apparently taken the $ and run...as the song goes.

Very good idea. Some security would be nice, espcially when there's lots of money at stake.

Hey guys (and gals too of course)

I'm brainstorming on this one... I hope to have an idea or something soon - cost would be TINY in comparison to other places if you're a member... At least that's what I'm thinking...

I'll keep thinking - and while I do - anyone have any other ideas on this subject?

Thanks!
