I get a remanufactured pump from Porsche, it's got a warranty, and it comes with the mounting hardware.

I don't know if the reman part is of the same quality in HK as it is in the U.S.
In the U.S. I have used reman pumps from reliable vendors, like Paragon-Products.
Jason, at Paragon didn't feel like the additional cost of a new pump was worth the difference. I agree.
I've never had any problem with a reman WP.

I have used hundreds of remans over the years. Only one I ever had that was defective, a customer bought from Vertex for me to install. The impeller had not been pushed all the way on to the shaft, so it bottomed out on the block. Luckily I just happened to try and spin the pulley before putting the belt on so I caught it. He had a heck of a time trying to return it to those guys and get a replacement. Now it is standard procedure to always spin the pulley after bolting it on, lol.

If you are doing the work yourself, reman's are fine, IMO. If you are paying a shop to do the work, you may want to spring for new as that remanufactured part might be the difference between them backing up a warranty claim or not if something goes wrong and you eat a timing belt.

I ordered mine from NAPA Auto Parts and it was brand new. They have many of the things I need for the old girl and can get them fairly quickly. They even carry OEM brands.
Might want to try them if you haven't already ordered.

I never had problems with the duralast one I put on my 924S. Saved me a few hundred bucks.

Let's make sure that we differentiate. Remanufactured and rebuilt are different things. Other than making a new casting, a remanufactured WP is completely brand new. It goes through the same factory QA as a new pump, it just doesn't come with a brand new casting. All else is brand new.

Autozoo shows $350, 400 and 500 for their pumps... I wouldnt exactly call that saving a few hundred... especially since I got a Laso from Partsgeek or Autopartswarehouse for $300~ for a new pump... all you will need is a gasket and possibly a belt guard plate and roller for the updated pump...

It's been a long time since that car, but IIRC correctly it was $250 from AZ and 450-600 anywhere else I could find it at the time.
