Post NEW DASH FOR 86 944 FOR SALE

I RECENTLY HAD MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED IN MY 86 944 TURBO AND THEY PUT A SLIGHT CUT IN THE DASH NEAR THE A-PILLAR.I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE IT AT FIRST,BUT I WENT BACK TO THE COMPANY AND COMPLAINED.AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION THEY AGREED TO PAY FOR A NEW DASH,LITTLE DID THEY KNOW THEY WERE $1900 FROM THE DEALER.SINCE THE CUT IN MY DASH IS SO SLIGHT,AND IT WOULD BE A BIG JOB TO REPLACE IT,I DECIDED TO SELL IT.IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED ITS BLACK AND ITS BRAND NEW IN THE BOX.WHAT WOULD BE A FAIR PRICE,I HEARD THEY ARE HARD TO COME BY?

I would definately be interested in purchasing the dash. What would you be looking for? My '86 could really use it!

Bob,I'm not sure if you know this, but the dash is made up of the upper dash pad,the lower portion at the knees and even a new glove box door, all connected by a steel understructure.Considering how difficult it was to locate, and how much it retailed for($1945)I think $1500 and shipping from Michigan would be a fair price. Sorry but 1,500 dollars is NOT a fair price. I bought one from a wrecker for 50 bucks and had it made like new for 300 dollars. A few months ago one sold on ebay in good condition for about 300. I guess the right price is about 500 to 700 USD for a new one. How can you call 1,500 a fair price?

Jeff:
Please don't play nice guy. Somebody who got a dashboard for free and tries to sell it for an outragious price doesn't deserve my sympathy.

Christian,no one replied to my first post asking about what a fair price would be so I just figured 75% of retail,I didn't know that was an outragious price.I'm willing to negotiate, and will most likely put it on ebey, auctions have a way of revealing true market value. Jeff

I believe you can purchase a new dash from performance products/automotion for around $500. My guess if you put it on ebay you probably get around 300-400 bucks. good luck

Is the dash still available? What is the current "rennlist-bay" bid?

Assuming that it retails for $1945, I think that $970 would certainly be fair, despite what Christian has to say.

Given that the retail price is that much, probably so.

But, honestly, I can live with the one or two small cracks in my dash for that much $$$, unless I was independantly wealthy. $970 would buy me a lot of other goodies, so the dash would "take a back seat" so to speak. I think that's what the other posters really meant to convey. That it's not worth that much to them. If someone came along with a new dash around the $400 to $500 range, then I might be able to justify it.....

Again, I'm not implying that Jeff is trying to rip anyone off.

Ratail only makes sense if it makes sense -lol. For 2,000 bucks US I can probably find a COMPLETE car in Canada with an intact dash. The problem is the heat, so most damaged dashs are in areas where it is hot

If you think that you have to spend USD 1,000 on a dash then you obviously have too much money <img src="graemlins/r.gif" border="0" alt="[king]" />

The best way is to buy a used damaged one for about USD 50, have it repaired for 200 to 300 like new and do the process of taken the old one out and putting the new one in on a weekend.

But as I said if you have too much money. <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />
