OH MY GOD! FLAMES!!!
After having the dealer find my smoking oil leak (head to cam housing gasket) I decide to drive the three miles to our house. Aside from some billowing smoke when at a stop, the trip went without a hitch. That is, until I pull INTO our garage (attached to the house by the way) and decided to open the hood with the car still running to see the leak myself. Well, you know the old saying, where there's smoke there's fire. It' s especially true when you open up the hood and let a bunch of oxygen in. Two to three foot flames. Holy Crap. Thankfully I had an extinguisher on the workbench four feet away. While there's soot over everything, the only wiring casualty is the lead to the MAP sensor. Hopefully that meltdown didn't result in any damage to the SDS ECU. Talk about dumb!

I know very little about this, but I have heard that the dry powder in most fire extinguishers (not halon) is VERY corrosive. You might want to do a bit of research on this and hose your engine down.
I hope everything ends up okay.

Thanks gentlemen.
The fire damage was three melted hard plastic vacumn lines and the outer sheath melted in places on the MAP sensor lead.
At this point, that looks like it damage wise.
The extinquisher was a foam type for liquid or grease fires and I did rinse the motor and engine compartment off after cleaning much soot. Everything is cleaned and prepped for the new gasket to go on tonight.

Scary that a fire can result from just a small leak and a little bit of smoke. My oil pan gasket is leaking a bit on the 968...I ain't drivin' it till it's replaced because this is some freaky stuff!

Kool,
Heck no. It was already smoking when I brought it in to them to put on the rack and run the leak down for me. It was dripping more than a drop a second onto the #4 header. Quite a bit of smoke involved.
