What exactly is a CHOAD?

choad
/chohd/ n. Synonym for `*****' used in alt.tasteless and popularized by the denizens thereof. They say: "We think maybe it's from Middle English but we're all too damned lazy to check the OED." [I'm not. It isn't. --ESR] This term is alleged to have been inherited through 1960s underground comics, and to have been recently sighted in the Beavis and Butthead cartoons. Speakers of the Hindi, Bengali and Gujarati languages have confirmed that `choad' is in fact an Indian vernacular word equivalent to `****'; it is therefore likely to have entered English slang via the British Raj.

Matt Sheppard's trailer contains:
"-non illegitimi carborundum"
I always thought it was:
"-non corborundum illegitimi"
(don't let the bastards get you down)
Thought I cannot confirm it at this point. <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />

For about 15 years, I've understood it to mean a ***** that is wider than it is long, much like a mushroom. a choad *****. hence the insult. I have no idea what kids think it means nowadays.

It seams to me that composing it that way would litterally mean "Dont grind bastards" which is not what we are after . But come to think of it "No bastard grinding" doesnt sound too much better. No wonder it's a dead language.
I am no latin scholar, but this is what I picked up through a lawyer - it was on his wall (not that one should necessarilly trust a lawyer either. . .). It has been very helpful for me as kind of a philosophy.

Come to think of it "AMAF is a CHOAD" isn't a bad philosophy either. Perhaps i should have titled the thread "Please explain your footer"

I'm with Prerydog. That is what I always thought it was. I subjected myself to some research on dejanews and seemed to find the same thing.
There were some people who thought it meant *****, but I think this came from them hearing it in context on 'Beavis and Butthead' and 'South Park.'
Dejanews (usenet archives) is a pretty decent way to research recent pop culture.
BTW, it's spelled perineum.
This whole wider than long is a new thing to me.
