Post My new clutch + pressure plate

As most of you are aware, a stock pressure plate with the cup clutch disc is pretty much useless in a car making over 350whp. It took all of ~3 months of driving (1 month of big boost) to completely wear out the clutch. It basically slipped since day one because of insufficient clamping force. So a Huntley Racing Aluminum Pressure Plate was installed tonight along with a new clutch disc. The pressure plate looks pretty cool, it's made by Kennedy Engineered Products (http://www.kennedyeng.com) and has neat fins that helps cool the clutch. The pedal is rock hard now, so rush hour traffic is probably out of the question. I'm guessing nearly twice as hard pedal pressure to disengage the clutch. The clutch will be tested with high boost on Monday at the roadcourse. 4 hours and an expected 3 tanks of 103 octane fuel =).

Anyways, here are some pics of the stuff :

COOL

Impressions of the lightened flywheel?
The PO of my car had a new OE clutch and flywheel installed and I think the revs drop too slow when I let off the throttle to shift.

I've had the lightened flywheel for quite a while. I've heard on a stock ECU, the revs drop too fast and the engine sometimes stalls when you're not in gear. I know my friend's M3 does that. I don't have such problems (the beauty of standalone hehe). The flywheels allows revs to drop at a perfect matched speed for quick shifting. The bad thing is, you ALWAYS have to shift quick, or the revs drop too fast and it wears out the clutch quicker, and the shifts aren't smooth. Also, the flywheel doesn't seem to be able to hold enough energy for a blazing start off the line (see my crappy launches on my sig).

It looks identical to to the one Paragon sells, I love mine. I did not notice a significant increase in pedal pressure though. I have yet to spin the clutch(oooh that smell). It will bark the tires(tire) shifting from 2nd to 3rd at redline(only did a couple of times after i chipped the car). I hope to get more than 41k out of this clutch disc.

Tested today before it rained, it's nice to be able to powershift again with 28 pounds of boost under my right foot =).

Rage,

Just curious, did you concider a centerforce clutch?

I do not have the HP that you do (275 and looking for more) but my clutch holds great and the pedal effort is the SAME as stock! Danno has a centerforce, loves it, and is pushing around 350 rwhp I believe.

When I was looking for a new clutch system, I went to the centerforce web site and they provide clutches for 1000 hp drag cars, I was sold.

I hope to get my car into the 350 to 375 rwhp range and keep it a daily driver with all the creature comforts. I hope that when I reach my goal, I will not have to change the clutch again.

Here in northern california with the bumper to bumper traffic, I could not live with a lot of pedal effort.

That clutch you got looks very well made.

I considered a centerforce, but I read a few problems with it here, and decided against it. The new clutch is tough, and I wouldn't do bumper to bumper with it. Maybe I'm just a wimp... =)

If you ever wander north up to Calgary, I'll be more than happy to give you a ride in the beast.

Anymore news from users of that 5.75lb Fidanza flywheel? Wasn't there a group-purchase of 10+ a while back?
