I installed all new stock brakes and pads on my 87 turbo so I can promise you that is the correct answer.

totally different. check rockauto.com for pricing...sometimes they have blowouts on stuff like this.
...just checked...they have ONE rotor for $53! They have others at $60-up, though.

I scan RA about once a week for stuff like this. 5% discount codes for RA are all over the web, too.
Even Amazon has some hidden gems for our cars, but not that often.

I just bought rotor and pads for my 86. I got mine from autopartswarehouse and rock auto. Rock auto had the pads i wanted, and I got the rotors from APW as well as the brake pad sensors. Zim's is pretty competitive on pricing as well..

General Brake info –
All 951 calipers take the same pads except 88S and 89 front calipers.
1986 951 has its own front rotor, 87-88 front rotors are the same and 88S and 89 are the same.
1986 951 has its own rear rotor and 87-89 rear rotors are the same.
Front and rear calipers look the same and mount the same (except 88S and 89) but the pistons are different diameters – don’t swap them. (there is also a slight difference between 86 and later front calipers but they will swap without a problem)
The ‘cheap’ rotors are…well, cheap rotors. If you are street driving only the cheap ones are OK, you will get less life from them and they warp easier. If you track the car or dive it very hard the official ‘Porsche’ rotors will last longer and perform better. Its all about the alloy used in the casting. Cheap ones are made from less expensive and less refined alloys.
