Most noticable improvement per $ would probably be sway bars, the M030 bars will flatten the car out during corning, but what is the condion of you present parts? Meaning how many miles / year on your present set up. If your struts springs, torsion bars are old and have lost thier spring just bringing them up to like new would make a world of difference as well.

And if you are going to do that, going up to M030 specs would not be any more work and that would again take the car to the next level.

Good luck

Suspensions can get very tricky. I spent roughly about five months researching the subject. You can find a wealth of information in the Rennlist archives. I've met people driving 944s at Swap meets, Autox and DEs (Driver Ed) and asked them about their car setups. Get to ride in their cars to get a "feel" of the ride.

My goal is a bit different from yours. I wanted my car to be 75% track with 25% street.

Before you start your "suspension upgrade project", you should think about "budget".

How much are you willing to spend? Suspensions are easy if you have enough money to throw at it.

For us on a tight budget, we have to pick and choose what piece of the puzzle will be the best "bang for the buck".

Ian already gave you one piece of the puzzle. MO30 sway bars will definitely help keep your car planted in a turn. This option for front and back sway bars will run you from $500 (OEM Porsche Cup Sways) ~ $1000 (Weltmeister sways). This option cost me a month of eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Koni adjustables are a good idea. Koni Sport front shocks (yellow part #8641-1414S) from Paragon runs about $308 / set.

Koni rear shocks (yellow part #8040-1035) from Paragon runs about $194 / set.

I opted for coil overs kit in the front with 300lbs and have it pre-assembled by them. That ran about $350 (+240 coil over kit + $110 pre-assembled). Mmmmm..Ichiban noodle soup for dinner for two months.

Upgrade the torsion bars to 28mm. That's another $266. Skip breakfast for about three months.

And you're about done...no wait...MODS!

Lindsey Boost Enhancer...$99. Turn off cable service for a month.
Chips (Guru, Autothority, Huntley, Europroducts..) $ 200 ~ 400. Make that another four months.
Cat back exhaust (Speed Force Racing, Linsey Racing, B&B, Fabspeed, Bursch...) $300 ~ 1000. Work overtime for a month.

Last but not least...regular maintenance of your vehicle.

If you ever get a chance to participate in DE ...do it! It will change your whole perspective on driving. I'm addicted!

Good Luck.

if you dont care about resale value, i would say weld in a roll cage in the hatch and take out those backseats...it all depends on how serious you want to get with it, I plan on tracking my car every chance i get, but i also need it to tear through the streets. usually the more modding you do to the car, the less ride comfort you end up having. if you can deal with a suspension thats really stiff on a rough road then by all means, slap on some coilovers and new sway/ torsion bars. strut braces and lowering the car would help. just make sure you remember the geometry correction kit when lowering.

EDIT: maybe i should read the WHOLE post before resoponding.

"Off Topic"

Hans,
YOU'RE RIGHT! I have more fun with my car after the mods. BUT...what do you do when the weather turns cold???

You order back issues of the Excellence magazine and read from cover to cover...

Or move to Florida where "cold" is 60F during the day and maybe low 30's at night once or twice a year <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Of course the sacrifice is the complete and total lack of twistie roads on which to enjoy your car year round...I have to get my jollies on off ramps and airport access roads

Oh well, the price you pay for a year round tan and no snow

I just bought the complete front struts with Koni Adjustables and Coil over kit installed and a pair of rear yellows. Actually got them barely used off e-bay (rare find) Everything as a package was less than $800.00. Its not too much more to buy it all new but every penny counts
Also I just purchased the front and rear M030 bars and bushings, spent 421.00 with shipping. E-bay again but BRAND NEW!
I haven't installed any of yet but from what I've read, heard, and picked at people thoughts, this is very good option. I can't wait to get mine all together and play with it! Good Luck!
