Post Whining noise

When I start the car and it's really cold out, there is a loud whining noise coming from the front of the car. I think it may have something to do with the power steering. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had the same whining noise and it turned out to be that my idler puller for the balance belt was putting too much tension. I also replaced a roller than seemed to be sticky before the engine got warm. Perhaps this is not a solution but it was for my noise.
My experience with steering noises is that they tend to be much louder and dramatic than a whine.
Let me know what happens.

Well it is more than a whining noise. It's more like a loud grinding noise. It goes away as soon as the car gets warm. I think it has something to do with the power steering mainly because when I turn the steering wheel, the noise gets louder. Any other suggestions guys? Thanks for the help.
