Post Rear end cosmetic upgrades?

I don't like the rear end of the 951... it's way too busy. The lower turbo valance looks like an afterthought, the u.s. spec bumpers are nasty, and the hatch wing is questionable. What options are out there to clean this up? I'd love to see pics... 924 hatch? 968 wing? euro rear bumper? I'm not a big fan of the 968 rear end conversion... what else is there? Thanks.

I'm guessing you don't own a 951...

I'd love to see some pics, I'm having a hard time finding good pictures of these parts. Thanks!

But I agree with you, it's too busy. I think a few steps could be taken to help it:

1.Get rid or that cheesy PORSCHE decal that goes across the back under the lights.
2. Get a 968 rear wing like the 1990-91 951's had. This makes a huge difference!
3. Lower the car a little. Mine is down about an inch and has 17" 964 rims. I think it looks mucho better than the stock height and of course lowering it translates to a lower CG which helps with hanlding.

Beyond that, short of some wild *** big $$$$$$ conversion, I don't know what can be done. Some people opt for those 924 "Turbo" light bars between the two sets of tail lights. I saw a home brew bumper skirt on an 944 N/A that didn't look half bad and I'm sure with enough persuasion (again $$$$$$), anything can be done!

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder...If the appearance of an automobile doesn't appeal to you why would you consider it????

Obviously the 968 wing wouldn't harm this... although I'm not a big fan of wings. I don't foresee getting too much track time around here (with the exception of autocrossing), so 150mph stability isn't my largest concern. How large of a role do the hatch spoiler and lower valance play? Are there any alternatives to the stock turbo valance? Anyone have a pic of a 951 with a 924 hatch?

All this, in a beautiful, understated package (although the rear end is a bit busy).

The PCA parade was in Boise this year. There were quite a few 951s 952s etc for viewing. Did you attend?

You could have seen the various models with the different rear ends.

(Oh by the way we drove down at 100 mph+) Stability IS important.

The lower edge of the US bumper sits 3-4" away from the body. The Euro bumper fits right up next to the body so the air flow between the valence and the bumper is much smoother. I have a complete Euro bumper ready to install on my S2... just waiting for some warmer weather. Check the Cosmetic section of my website for a picture.

About design: check the bumper in this link, the red car in the bottom right.
http://www.pefa-design.de/pefa2.htm
It is European, so, far away, not the greatest quality I've been told, but it does look nice
I also like the 3 piece 968 Turbo RS adjustable wing. Can be bought here http://www.v-zweeden.com/images/bodypics191.jpg

Yes, that is a sexy tail, is it not?

It can be bought from PeFa design, Germany.
e-mail: pefa@nikocity.de
Bumper is item nr PeFa 456, cost €370,-- . The wing is PeFa 212, cost €320,-- with a fitted 3rd braking light for €25,-- 1 € (euro) is roughly 1 $.

There is catalog in .pdf that you could order.

The guy who owns this is Peter Faustman. Seems like a nice guy, I have not done business with him myself. Does speak and write English.
