Pauly's go quicker project. Phase two?
Phase two click here
Phase one
Ever since the start of the year sometime my turbo let go (we think) i pulled apart the exhaust, Xover, took the turbo out and everything and how i have a car with no boost. So i decided in upgrading parts (while you're there type of thing) and made some orders. I ordered TiAL Vband kit, Vband kit for the exhaust, oil lines, adapters, 750cc injectors, and other small pieces. The turbo i ordered is a GTX3076R/ TiAL .63 now TiAL .82 hot housing. But it'll be here in 3-4 weeks
So here's some pictures to start off.
Oil line is already on the car. couldn't wait to start bolting parts on.
750cc injectors with 1ohm resistors.
TiAL vband flanges and clamps along with the other2
I've installed the ballast resistors and properly installed my LM-2
Ballast resistors and heat sink. i read somewhere that they do get hot so i found some heat sink that i thought could do the job
And the birds nest of wires and computers...

I'm very interested to see how this install goes, mainly in how well the crossover and downpipe will align with the tial hotside, and how much fab work will be needed. At this point I have pretty much set my sights on a GT30R w/ 0.82 hotside (stock GT 3" or Tial) and the optional 3" inlet compressor housing (I don't think the ported shroud is going to be necessary).
I think we would all appreciate some good pics of the mockup once the turbo is mounted. I assume some modifications will need to be made to the stock engine mount?

The ported shroud isn't necessary for our cars but the GTX turbo comes standard with one and it's an extra to get the 3" inlet.
The custom exhaust bits shouldn't be much of a problem. only thing im wondering is how much modification ill need to do with the Xover pipe.
With the mount, i'm not sure what issues ill run into but i've got a GT to T3/T4 adapter to help me out.
I'll get pictures up as soon as the turbo arives

From using both the GT3076 .63 and the .82 my impression is on a 2.5L that isn't screaming for absolute top power the .63 is the better choice.
Not to rain on anyone's parade or kill anyone's joy, just purely my experience. I think the .82 will be good also.
Sorry to OT Paulyy, but if anyone wants a .63 mine is up for sale. PM me for details.
Back to normal scheduling.

Patrick how much power you making with your .82 on E85? (if you've dynod it)

where are you djing ? I'l go shuffle it up
dont judge only by rpm to 1 bar remeber car speed is about torque and power you may find the .82 is making 20 more ft lbs at 3500 rpm with 2psi less boost ...

No it is merely with butt dyno that I make my comments. Add to that we went with a bigger cam and exhaust when we made the turbo change too, so it is a really subjective opinion. However, if I was putting together a nice road car that I wanted to do a few trackdays in and maybe Auto X or Motorkhana style events, I would still go for the smaller version. It just spooled so quickly. Just my opinion but if you want to go for the bigger hot housing I think you have to take advantage of a bit more VE and rpm mods.
My dyno figures are immaterial compared to others posted on here. They just don't compare so no use going off mine.
Wonder if that Yellow thing will be a Phillip Is?

that is also true, i was looking at comparisons with the 2 different housings from a wrx 2.5L on a dyno. on around 25-30 psi both the housing reached the same peak torque but the .63 was earler but the .82 torque lasted longer therefore got more horsepower.
Patrick, i'm not looking to get better VE and higher rpm. well not on this engine. when i get the nerve to find a 968 long block in the next 3 or so years... now that's a different sotry!

Can't wait to see the results!
Upon reading that NASIOC forum thread about GT vs. GTX results I had made the following generalizations about these turbos:
My original K26/6 is knackered to hell, and I get 17 psi around 3100 rpm in 5th, which I think is a tad slow for what it is. I had made the decision that if I could get a turbo which spooled basically the same or a tad later that I wouldn't mind.
By my estimates and videos I've seen of people running the 30R/0.63 setup (edman), full boost (19 psi) was acheived before 3000 rpm in 5th gear.
Patrick, what was your experience with the 30R/0.63 combo?

- 0.82 A/R hot side will spool 300-350 rpm later than 0.63 A/R
- GTX is ~100-150 rpm slower to spool than comparable GT series
- At same A/R, GTX is expected to produce 10-15 more whp across the board than comparable GT series
- 0.82 A/R hot side will produce 20-25 more whp than 0.63 across the board

Sounds like what my k26/6 started to do in a day. i got 15 psi @ 3500 in 4th gear it would sit at ~5 psi untill 3k
