Default The 951 is a lonely breed

Attended a PCA event at one of the local dealerships today. Out of 100 Porsches there was:

951 - 1 (mine)
Front engine - 4 (944, 951, 928, Panamera)
Air-cooled - 3 (356, 911, 965)

there are also less and less of the 'other cars'...997 production numbers have eclipsed the entire 10 year run of the 944 and all variants, in half the time. not to mention 996 built in similar numbers, and several hundred thousand boxsters and multitudes of cayennes.

No offense to anyone but I don't think most dealers are catering to the 944, 928, most older 911, never mind the 914, 928 or 924 anymore....afterall their money is in the new models.
The independent shop gathering is more where you really want to be...these are the guys who will truly cater to the older models and the places most of these cars can be found.

Totally agree. Despite the swarm of Stepford Porsches I really love the PCA in my area. Great down to earth folks who really appreciate and like seeing the older cars.

My experience in the Ferrari club was completely the opposite...

I don't know about your area, but i can count the number of times I have seen a 944/951, 968 or 928 on the road with one hand in the last 10 years or more. I have never been to a PCA meeting, that may be different.

I still see them here on a semi regular basis. At least one or two a week on my commute. Today, it was a red 968.

This area seems to have quite a few more than normal. Sort of like central florida.

I saw a white NA this morning at Scottsdale Rd and the 101. It was missing the header panel. Anyone know who it belongs to?

Been several PCA discussions over the months on this topic. Of course there are some good PCA chapters out there that actually drive a Porsche or at least wear a Porsche hat to the meetings. lol

I will just say I have not been a member for over 10 years and I have checked out other chapters and still did not sway me back.

If I want to attend a monlthy board room style meeting I will stay at the office and get paid for it.

+1

Best times are had when just a bunch of P owners hanging out at a local shop on a Thurs/Fri afternoon on your way home from work and talk cars and maybe a few cold ones. Good times!
