The aluminum cost more then the stainless because of the amount of work it takes prior to welding. Aluminum must be very clean to weld it appropriately.

Tecart,

We changed our pipes since you got your set.We started to cut grooves into the pipes to prevent them from blowing off when you get on the boost hard. We also use a different type of hose then the Purocil we used to use. We are always trying to make our products better;^)

Yes but the $400 are for 3 pieces including a J pipe that goes from the K&N filter to the Turbo.
The 1 Piece turbo J pipe only cost $120.00

Konstantin
PS I am not sure if hoses etc are included but I have here tons of hoses and clamps teh same taht Porsche use in their Le Mans GT1 so It is good enough for me.
Thicker than Purocil and with 3-5 layers in the hose. Thicker than purocil and much more stronger

Well, if he is including the MAF inlet, that is better. He did not make that when I ordered mine, so all I got was the pipes.

Still... they are beautiful.

What is the advantage to upgrading the intercooler pipes. Does the turbo spool faster? Will it help get more power?

My mach tells me that the stock pipes will flow up to 500hp and is not worth swapping unless you are upgrading the intercooler.

Naw.. not yet. I am finishing a deal for a new block (a hell of a deal I might add), then I need to put that together. Oh.. and the car is still in peices.

You should have less lag, and since I am flowing a hella lot more air than the stock K26, I should benefit fine. I don't think this is a wise upgrade if the rest of the car is stock. Perhaps Tim has some info on gains on a stock 951.

I'm curious what "issues" you are having. Is it a problem with hoses blowing off under boost?

well under boost the hose will either slide off, snap the hose clamp in 1/2 or loosen the clamp. It's a new issue every day, and I mean everyday I have to tighten and replace at least 1 clamp SOmebody mentioned T bar clamps? where can I find these. I need something more agressive.

O, but the usual spot is at the throttle body because that pipe is perfectly straight and then it makes a 45 at an inch and a half before the T body. That has to be seriously tough on the connection at that side.

check out <a href="http://www.burnsstainless.com/Hardware/Clamps/clamps.html" target="_blank">Burns Stainless - T-bolt clamps</a>

They also have the materials you would need if you wanted to try and fab up there own intercooler pipes.

Later,
Rob

If the problem is slipping the connections between the IC and pipes, another option is to weld a tab on IC in/out and a corrosponding tab on the pipes and then bolt a flat bar between them. That will certainly hold them together.

<img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" /> Yea they are expensive, but really nice.

Road race engineering also has some that are cheaper. check <a href="http://www.roadraceengineering.com/hoseandclamps.htm" target="_blank">these</a> out.

Also, do you really need 16 clamps instead of 8?

Later,
Rob
