Question Engine Cut off at 4K rpm

Hi guys,

I'm new here and hoping to find some help,

If I WOT from first to fifth, everything is perfect. When i'm going 60 to 80 and floor it, I will get a cutoff around 4000rpm-5000rpm (no matter the gear)? However if I slowly accelate all is A1?

I have a 86 944Turbo, gutted Cats, no exhaust, a resurfaced head and a chip. I have had this problem since I had the engine rebuilt.

I would suggest investigating your throttle position sensor. I had a similar problem in the N/A and the TPS was the culprit.

What boost-level are you running? Sounds like it could be overboost-protection kicking in. Also what is this "and a chip." that you have?

I suppose Danno is right. Most likely overboost protection kicks in. What chips do you have ?? Sounds like they have overboost function like the original ones.

J'ai fait affaire avec George chez GTA Auto Performance à St-Hubert(450) 443-4500. Il a été très honnête avec moi sur la condition réelle de ma voiture. Mais je n'ai pas encore vu la qualité de son travail.

Bonne chance!

"by the way guys Im sorry I don t speak & write really good in english"

D'accord, il ne faut pas parler en anglais tout le temps. Et je tu comprend exactement.

"he was suppose to port the intake so i don t if he adjust air /flow"

I hope he did not try to get more performance by adjusting the AFM-air flow meter. There is no benefit to messing with it. There were a couple of people who had recent problems that appeared to be chip-related, but turned out to be adjustments in the AFM or a bad TPS-throttle position sensor.
