I am leaning towards the stock location, however, I haven't entirely made up my mind yet. There are a number of pros and cons to any location that is chosen and I haven't made my final decision yet.

Since I am dry sumping my engine and my car is a track car, I have even considered modifying my firewall so I can move the engine about 10" back so the front of the engine is just behind the crossmember, stand it straight up (as opposed to its leaned over position) and then lower the engine since it is no longer sitting directly on top of the crossmember. But . . . that is a bit much for now and I probably won't do that this year.

Talk to the shop that's working on your engine. I had this very discussion with them the last time I was over there. They mentioned something about the cooling system and having difficulties with bleeding it and overheating.

Hey, I just grouted my entry way - didn't turn out half bad either. I may be pretty good at this. Keep us posted

Hey, this isn't anything like the home-done sand-honed engine thread is it?

Matt Sheppard

I hope you tilted your entry way when you grouted, so the grout did't go where it's not supposed to go.

Hmmm, look at a picture of the engine without the head, I think you can move it back even further. By laying it down perfectly horizontal, you can even squeeze it as far back as the passenger seat!

Maybe I should forget the whole 944 / 951 engine thing and just bolt a big 911 engine directly to the trans in a mid engine layout. Would that turn my car into a 941 that I could run in the PCA GT2 class??

Just kidding . . . I'm going to leave my engine in the stock location for now.

Heck.... just put the damn thing in the rear seat and dump the torque tube.
