I don't know how many people are following the thread on svtperformance.com, but there is one guy there who is just incredible. Tony posted the dyno chart of his car, and compared the HP/weight of his 951 vs that of a Z06 or 03 Cobra, and the fact that it was his "Street Setting". And this guy still says,
"I just have a hard time believing this. Call me ignorant or nieve. I just don't believe that car can out run a Z06 let alone an 03 cobra even with the added weight. Yes the 03 is a heavier car and might not handle that well cause of the weight, but with some suspension mods I can't see the 944 holding its own against the big dogs. "
OK, you are ignorant AND Nieve. Look at the Numbers! They don't lie!
I would have posted on the SVT forum, but there is really no reason to, since this guy has shown that he is absolutely set in his belief on what the car will do. I don't feel like starting something.
Just Venting.

Dan, don't worry about Tony g's post. What he probably is trying to let them know is that your 951 is not some "un heard of performance" 951. Meaning, that most of us are making great numbers with these cars easily. It lets the SVT guys know that your 951 is not some exception to the rule, but is the RULE So they better buckle up!!!
And, no offense to muscle car guys in here, but most will not understand that 400hp or 12 sec 1/4 is just that, regardless of what car it is. i.e. A YUGO that runs 12 sec 1/4 doesn't matter if it is a Yugo, it still ran a 12 sec 1/4 mile. They will never let themselves admit it that 400 hp is 400 hp regardless of it coming from a V-10 or I 4

This guy has obviously not seen Wayne Mello's 951 beating up on Vipers at Willow Springs...

yeah, you don't have to look too far to see 951's beating up on the big boys. Try any SCCA race where the ITE 951's are in the same group as American sedan - the 951's pass them out of the corners like an r8 coming past a gt3.

Few, it seems are privy to the abilities of the 951s. Most of the Mustang guys are used getting beat up by the Cameros and Firebirds. Up until '03 the Cobras were beat repeatedly by Z28s and LS1 Firebirds costing $5k less. The 90s were not kind to Mustang fans.
After all that, try to convince that a 13+ year old 4 cyl. will beat there mighty V8s. I have a guy at work that has a new GT and belives his car 'must' be faster. he had know idea how much power his car makes stock; nor the difference between crank and wheel horsepower.
Not to imply that we Porsche owners are better, it's just seems that there is a lack of knowledge about performance cars in general.

Hey Adrial, was there a run #02? I've combined all the videos into one sequence with more compression:
87951vs96CobraAll.avi (7.25mb)
uses the DivX Codec.

My partner's brother has a Contour SVT. Nice car. It's a V6 and probably wouldn't hold a candle to the 'Stang, but he loves performance cars and tracks them a bit. He drove my n/a and found it comparable to his SVT. He test drove my bone stock 951 and came away with a ****-eating grin. Now he wants to mod it and take it to the track. I say, "lets convert the Ford guys!"

96SVTCobra,
I did not read the replies , so some redudency here. I would beat 1/2 of the 5.0 Mustangs I raced in my turbo mazda 626. The losing Mustangs always (I'm not saying you did this, but it is common) shifted into the next gear far before redline. They want to feel the torque thrust, but are missing out on the h/p. Most all cars are quickest when shifted at redline, or very close to it. Porsche's have effecient trannys. They usually get over 90% of the SAE net h/p to the rear wheels. Don't know about Mustangs. My 86 weighed 3040 w/1/2 tank fuel. Mustangs are approx. 500 lbs. more. One of the beauties of forced induction motors, is that the right chip can add a lot of power, by raising the boost. More compression, more power, more heat, more cylinder wall pressure, more fun.

i have to agree with streckfu! I think most people dont know real numbers and dont have very much general automotive knowledge..so they say things like "there's no way his car is faster than my gt" or "I know my big v8 with nos can beat any 4 banger!" One of my best friends stated MOD Racing (mustangs of dallas) All those guys are nice guys but, they remind me of typical mustang owners ..someone who i.e. doesnt know much about any car but, their own! I have beat my friend robert's(guy that started mod)95 cobra with ease!I am stock other than lbe @1 bar...and i walked his *** pretty bad...but if you talk to him..."we were really close he only had me by about a car length" I think the blue oval scews their ability to see past their ego's my .02
