Turbo cooling pump not working on used 951...
On the 951 I am currently considering buying, I popped the hood after taking it for a 15 minute mild drive. The underhood temperatures were quite warm, but the turbo cooling pump never came on. I have seen another 951 where it runs for 30 seconds after driving.
How expensive of a fix would this be if I decide to buy the car, and could the bearings already have been damaged by the pump not cooling them properly?
Thanks,

Dunno if this helps any, but I had the same thing going on in my car when I bought it and it turned out to be a bad connector in the wire that feeds the pump some power. Fixed by cutting a bit off the wires and making new connectors, total cost near zero and didn't even take much time...
I have no clue whatsoever to how much a new cooling pump would cost, if that's what it'd need.
Basically the turbo cooling system is in place to protect the turbo from abuse. If the car is / has been driven "nicely" (allowed to cool down properly before turning it off after hard driving) it shouldn't have caused any extra damage. Most turbocharged cars don't even have this kind of additional cooling...

Right next to the throttle body and the TPS sensor. Also check the connector to the water pump, follow the wire up from the pump, it will go to a black connector on the shock tower.

Thanks a lot, this picture helps I'm going to look at the car again tonight so I will be able to check out the pump. Even if it needs to be replaced, I take it that it's not a huge job.
Thanks

I just did one today, it took me about 30 minutes. The hard part is getting the bracket off the shock tower and the lower water hose clamp off. It was not hard to do after I switched to a 1/4 socket wrench to remove the clamps. Much easier then tring to get a screw driver into that tight space.
Don't forget to check the Waterpump Relay (G21) and fuse 7 (7.5A)

Check the wiring for the pump too ... The pump in my car did not work when I purchased it. I ordered a new pump (lack of investigation on my side) and it turned out that someone had cut one of the wires to the old pump. The old pump works great now. I guess there is no harm in having spare parts sitting around.
