Default Rear coilover spring diameter

Are most of you using 2.25" diameter springs or 2.5"? I just received my new rears with 2.5" springs and the spring hits the banana arm keeping the bottom mount from seating by about 3/8" to 1/2". I have tried searching and hear more about 2.25" springs rather than 2.5". Did Ground Control send me the wrong set-up?

Are you using these:

I have only used 2.25s on various different rear coilovers. Knowing how tight the 2.25s are to the trailing arm, I would suspect that the 2.5s will not fit with most coilover setups.

I use 2.5", but use the racer edge bolts shown above to allow for space.

I have been back and forth with Ground Control about this issue. They said that since I'm running 700lb rears w/o torsion bars, I need their reinforced mount (that is NOT shown on their web site). It's a machined offset insert that fits into the bottom spherical mount. The mounts shown on their site are for less than 700lb springs. They have been very helpful and custom machined new mounts for me and sent them out yesterday. FYI - they said that their rear coilovers come with 2.5" springs.

Thanks for the info guys! Can't wait for the new one to show up! Got a shake down race this weekend. Talk about cutting it close. Have to be at the alignment shop Thursday morning!

60mm springs here (H&R springs are metric).

Are the RacersEdge any different to what GAZ use?

Mine come with spacers, as you can see in the pic, but the bolt is the original. Any problem with that and 600lb springs?

They are 2.75" by the way.

I would contact Racers Edge. You will want to do it in the morning as they are usually busy in their machine shop or arranging to ship out orders in the afternoon. They are extremely helpful. There comes a point where the moment arm becomes to long on their set up that they do not recommend exceding. I do not remember what the maximum size spring was.

Gaz comes with metal spacers, to get the correct position when installed. But it uses the oem bolt. Could that be a weak point?

I marked in red on both sides the spacer, hope it helps. Ill do some pics of them installed on the car, so you can judge it better.

If those mounts allow the use of the factory 14mm lower shock bolt - thats they way to go. Any of the shocks that come with spherical bearings all use 1/2" bearing eyes (12.7mm), so you have to use an adapter to convert from the 14mm trailing arm threads to the 1/2" bolt for the bearing. A little more meat to the original/factory 14mm bolt.

Who makes a 2.75" ID spring? Or is that OD?

This is the RE adapter bolt with a koni 3012 shock, 2.25" ID spring.
