So, I'm wanting to buy a pair of 968 door panels for my 951. Mine are in great shape, but the 968 panels sure are purdy.
My car's interior is Champagne/Black -- not Tan/Black -- and I was wondering if that color combo was made for the 968? Otherwise, I'd have to settle for all-black panels.
I've seen 968 door panels in Tan/Black, but the color is just slightly off...

I'm fairly certain I've seen champagne/black 968 door panels. That said mine were all black and I dyed the lower portion with SEM Palamino vinyl dye, which was easy to do and an excellent color match.

I think it's just the light (and my crappy photography), it's champagne, says so right on my window sticker ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
And thanks for the compliment, I can't wait to get the darn thing back on the road, the new paintwork makes the outside look as nice as the inside now!

That's great to hear she'll be back on the road! I haven't been around much, but I did hear thru the grapevine it was a bit worrisome there for a while eh?
How long ago did you dye your panels? They holding up ok? I think I may have to go your route....

Thanks for the well wishes, it was touch and go after the accident but to the credit of State Farm, they stepped up and fixed it. Still sorting out a few issues but glad to have it home and in my control after 5 months!
I dyed the panels at least 5 years ago and they have held up great. The key is in prepping the vinyl. I used SEM Soap to clean them, SEM Vinyl Prep to prepare it for the dye, SEM Colorcoat to dye it champagen/cashmere and then I put a coat or two of low luster clear on top of that. That sounds more complicated than it was and like I said, it has held up great.
Feel free to PM if and when the time comes if you have questions.

I think Ehall is right after looking at it again. Champignon is French for mushroom and is easily confused with champagne which of course is French for bubbly white wine...
And E, hope you're doing well!

FWIW, I've used the colorplus dye and can also confirm that it comes out great and holds up. If you can't get an exact match in the 968 door panel, I wouldn't shy away from dying it.

Huh, interesting to hear -- I guess I've always just heard it referred to as Champagne. I mean, it made sense to me -- the color is exactly that of champagne.
So, 'linen' = grey w/ a touch of blue, perhaps
'Champignon' = v. Light tan color
'Tan' = ....tan.
Would this be a correct color assessment?

Is there also a Champagne color, in addition to the three I mentioned above?
See, now you've got me all confused. I tend to shut my brain down on the weekend.

Champagne and Cashmere are the same color. Greg's car is that color. The dye he used was SEM Palomino. It's a perfect match for Champagne/Cashmere. I did the same. My old 86 was black/champignon.
I'm going to guess that the similarity in the two names is what made Porsche change "champaign" to "cashmere".
