I've tried lots of places, but have not found an ideal place.

Turbohoses in Livermore is a little out of the way (for me) but has the most professional operators and facility. They are my favorite so far. Their dynojet is above ground, but not way up in the air like some.

Dynospot in San Jose is ok too, but the dyno is way up in the air.

Mustang Ranch in Santa Clara is a professional shop, but the dyno guy is hard to reach and their dyno is up in the air too.

Pro Street in Hayward is ok, but I had a hard time getting the files from them.

None of them are set up to tune the 951 though...

Hey Tom,

What do you mean by that? I found out that a close-by Jaguar custom shop (I always see old XK's in front of their building along with some other older classic's...) has a dyno and I'd really like to do some tuning now that I've got the full Vitesse Stage 2 kit and the piggyback.

What do you look for specifically with regards to tuning a 951?

I just meant that if you drive in with a stock 951, none of them have any means of adjusting fuel or timing. Even if you have a piggyback (I do) they are not too eager to use an unfamiliar (to them) tuning platform.

Ditos motors in ssf, they have the correct loaded dyno and not an inertia dyno, and have been tuning for quite some time now.

you can tune on the street, with road / traffic conditions permitting, (Canada Rd. in San mateo) but you should do your bulk tuning on a "loaded" dyno. I tuned my car in the past on the street , but it was with a split second maf kit which had a MAF calibrator / controller in the cockpit, so I would tune as I drove as per different load and rpm ranges. Go to ditos , I'll go with you!! I am building my car as we speak so she won't be ready just yet for dyno tuning. If not Ditos, there is Vishnu in the east bay.
let me know what you do

yes, I tuned my 951 in the past , using a adjustable fpr, wideband guage, and a huntly racing maf, I tuned as I drove,
I have tuned some old carbureted fords and chevy's on a dyno. If you don't have any means of adding fuel via an adjustable fpr or some kind of piggy back or software for your maf, the only adjustments you can make are from the fqs switch on the dme, It will either add more fuel or more ignition timing or , or retard the timing .
I'll try to show up , never been there, what kind of dyno are they using? loaded or inertia? if inertia, stop .
