Default Hoosier question...

Hello, about ready to buy new Hoosiers for the car.
Was going to run A6's, but curious if anyone is running the R80's or R100's in the radial slick?

What's the porpose of the car? If your racing, it may be class specific. If your just looking for fast lap times they are faster than R6's.

Oh sorry...it's going to run with NASA in the GTS series, just not sure if we'll have it completely ready in time for next month.
Will probably do TT's, too.

Ive been running the Hankook Z214's and they are just as fast and 2/3 the cost of the Hoosiers. Tire Rack now carries them. Ive also found I get more heat cycles out of them. Might be something to look at. Only issue is they dont make a 285 for the rear. I run the 275 and no issues.

Marc, I've tried the R80s both front and rear and thought they were great. They're a bigger tyre than the comparative R/A6s though so you might have to come down in width. I've run 285 R/A6s up front where I had to go back to 265s in the R80s. They're cheaper than the Michelins and from what I can gather, sneaky fast.

A6's really eat up fast compared to the R's. They heat faster, and are generally used for autocross due to that, but your tire life is a lot shorter. R6's are more road track oriented.

Depending on your time on track. I've run A6s on track for up to 20 mins and they were fine, but not at 10/10ths all the way through. Hoosier themselves will say you can run these on the track but they will go off earlier.

Thanks everyone.
Last night I was thinking R80's, now this morning the A6's.
I'm used to the autocrossers, just wanted to try something new...
...but, just found out the rear size needed is only available in the R100?
Don't know why Hoosier would do that.

If you are running NASA GTS there is a penalty for running the non DOT true slicks. Check out the GTS series calculator.

Why not try the Hankook 214's. I know of a turbocharged and very modified Cayman that has run both R6 and 214's on the track. The 214's were significantly faster. Admittedly Hankook was a sponsor - but worth a try nevertheless.
