Isn't your noise more of a grinding/crunching noise? That would be more like a rattle and more towards the front of the car.

Has anyone ridden in the back with the rear mat pulled out while someone drives the car to try and duplicate the noise?

No one has done that.

My noise is not really a rattle. Karl replaced the back wheel bearings which was what I thought could have been the issue a long time ago. It could be something suspension related since it happens when the rear end is squatting under a load. But it only happens after you get it loaded in the rear. Some sort of bushing might be gone, but not really sure what one it would be.

one thing I do know about this is that its annoying not being able to find the cause of an issue like this.

Shot in the dark... but maybe check your transmission bolts. When I first got my car I took it to a shop to have them diagnose a vibration under hard acceleration... they put it up on the lift and found the trans was hanging onto the torque tube by just a single bolt, apparently they weren't torqued down properly by the PO's mechanic.

If its any consiolation, your car is catching up on a lot of needed deferred maintenance!

I know that. Although I don't know if the turbo replacement is your typical maintenance item. The other stuff did need to get done though.

I am going to try and swap in a used trans mount filled with urethane to see if maybe that will help it out. I think my mount is bad. Reason I say this is because when I first got this car I jacked up the rear of the car by the transmission. I am pretty sure that toasted the mount.

Got the mount out finally. Wasn't so hard once I lowered the trans and what not. Okay so it looks like the mount is okay. I am going to put in the used mount that I have that is filled with urethane tomorrow.

As of right now I don't think that its the trans mount.

Any suggestions will help. I have looked for loose bolts as well. Not really finding anything.

I just took the car for a test drive. It still makes the noise. I think it maybe the transmission. Its just weird that I can still drive it with the making this noise.
