Yes at idle. If you pull 12-14 hg at idle, your cylinder walls are probably scored a little, but that's not the problem. You should have a 12 to 14 lb spring in there. That is if your diverter valve has the provision to swap springs.

If I can get the thing apart I can put different springs in, it came with 4 total. I think I'm gonna have to borrow a vice though.

Since no one explained... the point of matching as spring rate to vac at idle, is so that the vac does not crack the valve open at idle...

After considering that, review the HKS one (I think from memory), they are designed slightly differently.

Its more likely a vac leak in the maze of hoses, and venturi etc, than isolating exactly to a scored cylinder for low vac, thats a pretty bit leap to make on very little information.

Ok... so I want a spring that is equal or greater than my vac at idle?

If you go for a conventional design. You usually pull the ones like Forge appart, and shim the spring with washers. Which is what I did before moving to the tial. You should review the Synapse and HKS ones to, it may change your perspective on valves.

The new dv I have is designed like the stock one, it is just tight as hell to get apart, but I can change springs.

Not necessarily... Im betting more on he has a vacuum leak. Mine only idled at 3-4" when I bought the car...and mine has 254000 mile on the broken odometer...

old thread bump. I've got my Mtune installed and vac is now at 18 hg at warm idle after redoing the lines. I switched springs and the lightest spring doesn't flutter at low boost but still does it at high boost.

The diverter sound is much louder with the Mtune.

I've read that some people turn the dv around so I'm gonna try that and see if that resolves it.

Yeah it seems spot on.

The inverted dv setup sounds louder but it flutters at low boost so I'm gonna switch it back.

yea mine flutters alot. I think the only way to get rid of it is if get one of those really fancy ones. I am running the forge DV but its not routed its just dumped. the pipe i got wasnt properly made to fit a DV like the factory did.

Mines make the sound just like Zeff and I am using the stock Bosch DV.
