Default can i ditch my power sunroof on 944 and fit manual one from 924?

87 951 I have. roof does not work. and to be honest I don't care for it. I want to instead add a manual roof from 924 if its the same fitment..
any thoughts would be great

(no experience) but as far as i know, the roof will fit, you just have to also change all the clamps/locks/latches etc. that hold the roof down.

I have plenty of experience... yes, fits and works fine. In fact, I prefer the manual set up over then electric version, its lighter, troublefree and works as well.

I've been running that way for several years. You just need to manual latches, remove the lifting arms and off you go. You'll never look back.

I was doing some reading and some say the electric lid needs to be raplace with a manual one due to some bracket on it..

I am trying to make a check list of what to get.
I know of some 924 cars and some early 944 I was to see if I can get all I need

ps where the motor for the sunroof? I noticed in the back left corner behind carpet there is some kind of motor there but not sure what it is

This should help.

And you do not loose the tilt feature, the black handles will sit in the groove around the roof.

You also do not need to strip the sunroof panel like he did.

I've done 3 of them so far and it's stupid easy to convert. All you need are the manual rear latches, the fronts remain. The early manuals had a retaining strap but I never had a problem without one.

You may have to notch the panel. Ill put some pics up when I get home.

Here this area may need to be notched to get the lever to go all the way down.

I disagree...I love the electric tilt on my 944's over my 924T's manual setup. It's nice to just crack it a little bit on the freeway to circulate the air as it's a lot quieter to do so than opening a window. I usually leave it open just a tad on nice days to keep the interior temps down, too.

Granted, I've never had a problem with mine, so that miiiight change my point of view a touch, but...

Another plus is if you remove the wind deflector you can take the roof out at stop lights.

Yea but if you have a whole panel then I would swap the entire panel. That is what I did.

FYI. If you want to use a manual inner liner to avoid cutting the liner support you have to also use the outer fiberglass section from a manual SR model and match the color. The liners will not swap between the two sunroof versions due to a reinforcement bar installed on the electric model. I have never had to cut the pressboard liner under the vinyl to get the manual latches to seal and work perfectly. If you or anyone else can rotate their necks far enough to notice the latches aren't perfectly flat then you need to buy a 250 GTO Ferrari and go to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance shows where the women wear wide brimmed hats and sip martinis.
