That stinks! You should photo-document the head gasket job. I think that a lot of people would find it helpful.

The oil cooler seals/gasket/updated tube were done in July and they are fine, it has to be the headgasket...

I'm going to do it with my tech tomorrow evening after work and we will be dirty and pressed for time, so no time for snap shots or pictures, hopefully between the both of us we should be able to do it in 3-4hrs, don't want to be back home after 10pm...

IMHO, I have lost two head gaskets and have never had any oil in the coolant reservoir.

Tom has an excellent write-up with a few photos.

Good luck man, hope the head checks within spec and you're back on the road soon.

Same here, but if the oil cooler is fine, then what else could it be!?

may have pinched a seal or 0 ring. Just resealed one of mine and also head gasket same time 3 months later found oil in coolant. O ring was the the problem . must have slightly pinched putting housing back together. Have never seen that much oil from a head gasket.

I also think it is the oil cooler housing, but he insists it's the headgasket even though he didn't use the alignment tool when putting on the oil cooler. The thing is that when he checked the oil cooler, it was fine, it didn't even need the oil cooler gasket since there was no mixing there, so that leads him to believe it HAS to be the headgasket...I guess by process of elimination.

how could there be no mixing in one part of the cooling system? I'm not sure I understand.

Those o-rings were a PITA to get straight on my first attempt...

When he took the oil cooler housing off, it was fine, had no visible leaks or anything, so he went ahead and put the new gasket in anyway, so when there's mixing it can only be either the oil cooler housing or the headgasket. It may well be the headgasket because when I floored it and took it above 110mph the other day, when it cooled, the reservoir level was really low and I had to ad a half gallon of water and a half quart of oil. When I drive it normal, I don't have to ad oil or water to the reservoir after I check it when it cools off...

It never “has” to be anything….I would not make that assumption based on what you posted. Pressure check the cooling system before you pull the head – if it keep pressure up at 20psi then start looking for another cause (cracked head, oil consul seals, etc.).

I've seen a turbo CHRA crack, causing oil/coolant to mix...

I kind of agree with this done a few head gaskets as well
Looks like the oil cooler seals or alignment of opr valve
