Default Lindsey GTR Front Bumper / Old Bumper - New Name

It used to be called by another name. We purchased the mold, and the same manufacturer is producing parts. It will be in stock for quick shipping. A part that was hard if not impossible to get will now be as easy as our other parts to obtain.

The retail price is $26 higher then their last know price of three years ago.

Lindsey GTR Bumper

Taking orders now, and would consider a group purchase.

849?! ouch my wallet... if we get enough people I will be in, until then I'll make my own lol

Why does it always seem that 944 fiberglass parts are way higher than most other cars.

looks good though, glad it can be ordered

...economies of scale don't favor us in the 951 world.

They took a 996 GT3 RS bumper and blended it into the 944 body. So it's mostly a Porsche
factory racing developed wind tunnel designed shape and gives you plenty of room for a massive intercooler, twin radiators, oil cooler and anything else you think you might need up there. Kitchen sink maybe?

For example...

Nice part Mike,
and very resonable priced. Somehow i find it out funny, when people talk about fibreglass parts prices. I often hear term "it's just glassfibre, it cannot cost much".
To fabricate that big part from glassfibre is not cheap at all. What comes to parts price 951 vs. other brands; usually fact is parts are produced more plentiful for those others brands. That means lower price compared to our cars.

Ya, usually the mold is the most expensive part, the actual contruction isn't generally. Usually with fiberglass bumpers/panels you expect roughly 3-4 layers of fiberglass mat, (some do hand-laid others a gun),which generally provides ridgid contruction and retains slight flexibility, then maybe a sanding on the outside surface and gel coat is applied to the outer surface (if the area is smooth/blemish free enough).

If a mold is handy it would probably take roughly 5hrs of labor, not including curing times for resin/gel coat.

But good point Olli since the numbers of 944's aren't as plentiful as other cars and so on then it would explain why most fiberglass parts are more expensive. Logically the cost by Lindsey is reasonable for the work envolved... I usually make all my own fiberglass parts, love the feeling of acomplishment afterward

Same here, so i know what it takes to fabricate parts. As you wrote, the mold is the most epensive part, and if you fabricate just handful of final product you just cannot sell them at a low price. I think Mike is offering a decent priced bumber, that big part takes quite a lot raw material. Also as you mentioned, it takes about 5 hours to fabricate this kind of part, labor cost as well something. Small product parts are just very difficult to produce in low cost countries, like China, Mexico etc.

Good to see your making this product available again.
Just a note, they probably started with the full race RSR bumper and not the RS.

Thanks. I think you're right! Yes, you might need a replacement when you hit the back of someone because you're to fast!

Mike:

I truly enjoy the effort and enthusiasm your company brings to the 944/951 world, BUT, the aero design is only as good as the ducting into and out of the bits behind the bumper.

The side holes are actually air outlets on the original/RSR bumber. But they have a canard in front of it, so without it and with the correct ducting it might be able to use it as an inlet too.
