The exhaust on my 86 944 turbo seems way too quiet. I've upgraded the exhaust to a Magnaflow and removed the cat, but it still sounds like stock.
Are Turbo's suppose to be this quiet because of the recirculation back to the turbo?
I'm running the stock 2.5" pipe. do I need to get a 3" or 4" pipe all the way down?
How can I get this car to sound louder?
Thanks,
Nick

Turbo cars typically have a more quiet exhaust note than NA cars due to exhaust gas being used to spin the turbine side of the turbo- the result is you may hear more turbo whine. A good exhaust system 3in. and no cat will help some. I have a 3 in, turbo back fabspeed exhaust system without cat and the sound just right in my opinion.

Try removing the muffler?
In my opinion, i think the car is better being very quiet. 4 cylinders never sound good... why try to be like the honda gayboys? let the bypass valve do the talking for you. Now if you had an ls1 in there... that's a different story..

yeah, remove the muffler for a day. You will want the muffler back on. I ran no muffler for a week. It was kinda fun since it literally screamed in boost, but it was way too raspy for daily driving.

I have a 3" lindsey with lindsey muffler. I think it sounds great, its quiet idling and cruising (relatively) and at wide open throttle sounds like a race car.
