Default Need spacer advice for early offset 951.

I've picked up a decent set of 18" 2002 Carrera 5 spoke lightweight with the following specs:

18x8 (50mm) with 225/40ZR18's
18x10 (65mm) with 285/30ZR18's

Lots of searching has revealed some information about which spacers to use for fitting the late offset wheels onto an early offset 951.

We can use most 17 and 18 et 50-65 mm with 1 to 1.5 spacers.

Largest wheel fitment without fender modifications: Front 18x9 et 52 with 1“ spacer, Rear 18x11 et 45 some cars may require 1/4" spacer and should require the top shock tower bolt to be reversed. <---- Sounds like I won't have a fitment issue and won't have to reverse the bolt.

Based on this information, which would be the best setup?

21-25 mm up front?
30-38 mm in the rear?

You've already done the research and the math. I did the same, but i wasn't convinced until I mounted the wheels and used thick washers on a couple of wheel studs. Start on the low side of your estimated spacer size, then add washers until the tire resides where you desire, mic the stack, and order the spacers.

hmm..wish I knew derek. Damn, there gonna look great. BTW, "if" you run a 245-35-18 on the front it will be almost exactly the same diameter as the rear PLUS almost the same as the originals!

Ted, that is a great idea about using the washers. I didn't think to do it that way, thank you!

Rick, yep, you're right about the ratio! I'm just concerned about having enough clearance up front for the 245. I'll do some more searching, thanks!

FRONT:
28mm on the front with a 225.

REAR:
Unless you roll the rear fender lip, you will have to make a lot more adjustments on the rear set up than just a spacer (camber/ ride height/etc...). 285's are T-I-G-H-T......and don't even attempt if you do not have new or VERY good~condition stout rear shocks.

However assuming that you do have the above you should be @ 31mm

I have 285/30's on the back with my CCW's..steamrollers

POST PICS!

I do have 245's on the front...no rub, no rolled fender lips. Obviously the fitment of the CCW's had everything to do with that. Sounds like with the right spacers you could pull it off??

Your new chipset installed yet

That's right Rick 245's upfront with no problem.

The 285's are dobable in the rear, just has to be properly thought out. When I did mine originally the were uber tight and under full boost, they would rub slightly due to the heavy weight transfer/TQ.

And yes.....your CCW's look sick

A little

It was also before I switched to 30mm TBars, and Bilstein rears. It is no longer a problem, but IMO, still takes a little bit to get right.

Rick, I haven't swapped in the chip set as I'm still saving up for the 3"-4" LR exhaust.

Speaking of suspension, I'm pretty sure mine has the original struts/shocks @ 88k miles even though the car is solid and doesn't bounce around. With that said, I'm trying to pick up a set of slightly used Bilsteins and researching how to lower a 951 properly!
