Default AutoThority MAF

What is needed to run one? I just have the MAF and cone filter? Will any autothority chips work with it? Does it need a piggyback?

Autothority Performance Engineering.

Not any APE chip will work. APE also did AFM chips I believe. Also, someone in your other thread mentioned that APE used a variety of calibrations for the MAF sensor. You'd need a chip that's tuned for MAF and also tuned for the calibration which your MAF is for. Piggyback is not needed, although the APE tune is said to run rich at mid ranges and lean at higher ranges.

As I said in your other thread, contact LR/Russell Berry and have him make you a chip. Did you even read that thread?

Yes APE is the same as Autothority.

APE will sell you just the chip for your MAF for around $350, or buy any APE chip that was bought in tandem with their MAF. All of their MAF chips are the same from 2003 and up.

If your talking about the Turbo and MAF upgrade thread then yes I read that one. I had someone asking me if they could use my MAF with any AutoThority chips.

I am currently thinking about keeping my MAF and using it with a stock turbo. Just do a few mods to my car until I am ready for the transition to the bigger turbo. I'm not sure yet.

Russel Berry will also burn chips for that MAF.

Do Russel's chips use MAF code or a AFM to MAF conversion? I know Vitesse code is rewrote code that is designed specifically for a MAF. The same with AutoThority's old MAF chips.

i have a complete APE MFS (mass flow system) setup in a box with two sets of chips, instructions, wiring, filter, etc. and 2-3 banjo bolts if you are interested. Make me a reasonable offer as it is in nearly perfect condition. I bought it ten years ago and ran it for around 7 years before switching to a VR setup. I wanted more boost, safely! What can i say?

You must use chips programmed for the APE mass flow sensor and turbo you are running. Russell used to do them, but Vitesse quit making chips for the APE MFS because of too many variables with the sensors as I recall. Standard chips from a barn door setup will not work and the car may not even start. The APE works very well as long as you are willing to keep the factory cycling valve and wastegate for boost control. They increase the boost by installing jets in the banjo bolts to restrict the boost signal to the cycling valve/waste gate. APE setups have been around for a long time and many people have created custom chips for bigger injectors and numerous turbo applications.

APE chips are mapped for specific turbos and are not true mass flow like the Vitesse system is. I cannot comment on Russell's chips.

Well I already have the MAF, just no chips. I have a new cycling valve so I wouldn't really have a problem with using it for boost control and the LBE to turn up the boost.

If you have a set of any APE chips, they used to take them in trade plus $100 for a new set to match your setup. Give that a try.

This is correct - you obviously have been talking to people that truly know what they are talking about.

I don't recall AutoThority having ever done a true "MAF Chip".

And last I heard about Russell is he was working on a true maf chip, but never saw if that come to fruition.

It looks like Russell quit posting here as well. I looked at the forums on his site, and the newest thread is from like 2 years ago. Very odd.
