Default WTB: 17" wheels for an '86 951.

I'm looking for a set of 17" wheels for my '86 951, preferably with the correct offset of ET23 as I don't want to use spacers due to the added cost.

CCW Classics (black, grey, polished).

Turbo Twists with ET23/ET15 offset.

If I end up buying a set with the late offset and have to use spacers/longer studs, I would love to have a set of OEM 18" 996 Carrera 5 spokers.

Also, with respect to spacer kits, any recommended vendors if I have to go that route?

I got spacers from vertex auto. their customer service was great.

Are you talking about this style of 5 spoke 996 turbo wheels?

Are those the hollow turbo twists?

Let me see if I can find a picture of the one's I'm thinking of - they were in a wheel thread I found while searching the site.

They're the ones that came on 2002 Carrera's, lightweight 5 spokes.

There are hollow twists and solid twists that look exactly like this. You have to look at the back of the wheel to tell them apart.

Either of the above pictured sets are late offset and thus require spacers on an 86. I have a couple different sets of aftermarket 16" wheels in early offset but finding any 17" or greater in early offset is difficult.

Milla miglia made some copies of Cup 1's, Cup 2's and Cup 3 wheels.
I have a set of turbo twist for sale at the moment. These are all ET23 - so no need for spacers.

I am looking at going back to the original teledials.

Finding a good, clean set of 17's in the early offset is proving to be a challenge. I've found a set of Twists on E-Bay in the correct offset (F et23, R et15) but missed out on getting to buy them before it ended and the seller won't respond back (they didn't sell).

I've also found a set of the above pictured 996 5 spoke wheels in nearby Indiana for $600 with no curb rash or dings but the seller hasn't responded back to my email. I could at least drive down and pick these up since they're located just south of Indy.

I've probably spent too much time perusing E-Bay and found a lot of different wheels in different styles, OEM and aftermarket.

17" OEM Boxster 10 spokes

17" Replica C2's in the correct offset with new Conti-Sport-Contacts but the seller wants too much, IMO, close to $1500.

18" 996 turbo style wheels with new tires.

18" ROH Drift-R's, (2) 18x8 & (2) 18X10.

18" RUFF Racing wheels in black, polished lips.

Veloce 3.6 - Classic 18" Sport Wheels

**19" 996 wheels with fresh Hankook Ventis V12 tires, $1200 - absolutely stunning custom painted in Black w/ MATTE BLACK CENTERS, HI-GLOSS BLACK LIP, AND RED PINSTRIPE (why can't they at least be 18's!!!)**

Choices, choices, choices....and trying to be practical doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

Were you running these on an '86 with those spacers? Cup I's or II's?

I'm not real keen on mismatched tires - my car has that now with the stock 16's and it tramlines badly. But that is a nice setup for the price.

If I can't get a set of 18's lined up, I might touch base with about your 17's.

I have a set of 4, 17 x 9's. All four tired up with victoracers. These are powder coated white with a clear. Every inch of the wheels is powder coated. Powder coating alone cost $650!! Looking for $900 + shipping..

Wow, those are stunning!

Looks like they're late offset.

Yes, I ran adapters (with bolts in, not just spacers) to make them correct. The adapters were $350 from Better Bodies here in San Diego. Nice... but I wanted to go back to stock.

If you were going to match the tires, pick the ones you like best. I was trying my best to match the tread wear estimation (300) with a little bit softer in the front. knowing that it would be slowly eaten via autocross Then I would match all 4 with another set. When I got them, the fronts were shot, so I only replaced them.

Let me know, they are just hanging out in the garage... shiny teles on for now.
