Well, had a small engine fire, bought back the car for cheap and no body damaged occured.
Parting the engine and Texas Performane Concepts is installing an LS1

Well, you know what I did.
I can help you out with parts if you decide you want to fix it. For instance I have a complete 951 engine wiring harness and a bunch of other things and I'm pretty local to you...
What do you need to replace?

No salvage title if I don't turn it over to insurance company....Doc, talked to Eric Hill for about 45 minutes today and I think it'll be heading his way

I've always loved the styling and looks of the old 911s. But I'm not sure I'd replace my 951 with one of them... especially an n/a model. I hear the rear engine design is not mechanic friendly.
That being said, the decision to keep the turbo motor or swap it out for a LS1 is personal preference. Personally, if I had the money, I'd swap for the LS. Cheaper parts, easier to work on (i think), more reliable, and the flat torque line is a lot more convenient in city driving. With the turbo motor, you'd probably get better gas mileage, it'll keep the stock'ness to it, and the turbo lag, although can be annoying, is very fun.
So it's really a matter of whether or not you care about keeping it a true Porsche car or not and if you don't mind spending the money on the conversion. The LS swap will be cheaper to maintain, faster, and go longer intervals before needing work.

That having been said, these points are very true, it is personnal decission,
If it were me, I would stick with the 951 motor, if for no other reason than it is a rare color, and I would not want to cross breed it... But I do drool over a nicely executed LX swap... I am sure doc's car is going to end up being a friggin work of art...

Actually it's not that hard to rebuild fire damages. Now it's a good moment to put it into pieces and rebuild the entire car to back it's glory. Your car's color is so rare, it should be saved with Porsche engine.
