Ran hard and put away soaking wet. Another $5k and it might be servicible, your labor. Looks like a bandaid basket case. Hate to see another one parted out for profit, but thats all that comes to mind.

it would make a good project, IMO the owner riced it out, HKS-ssqv BOV, the exhaust looks a little rice, the badge... the nose cut out job. i dont know how the price system works over there but for $2500 you couldn't even buy a 76 924 in bad condition down here.

friend of mine bought it a year ago for 5k. it had bad radiator, injector seals, exhaust gaskets, and a bent rim. i did all the work to it and did comp test. all cylinders were good. ill do another compression test and leak down. i told him i would give him 2500 for it in payments. he lost his job so he is willing to take my offer. i got parts out the 4ss for these cars that i have been collecting over the years. he really doesnt know how to drive a stick and has a jetta for his dd. he didnt drive the car to much. maybe to and from work. he put 2k miles on it in a year.

Go for it, looks like a great project car. It's always good if someone save a 951. There won't be any more 951's. I just hate to see saveable 951s put into parts. At least that example is lot easier project than ours https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...t-porsche.html

Further, if you have to make payments on any car older than five years old, you cannot afford the car.
951's are cash only cars. No exceptions.
RUN...don't walk...RUN away from this boondoggle!
Don't say you weren't warned.

lol...two payments of 1250. i own 3 of these cars and i didnt pay no more then 4k for either of them. i wasnt looking at buying another car but my friend needs help knew i would be the right person for this car. if i didnt spend my have fun money on a f1 trip then i wouldnt have to make payments. everyone always says these cars are expensive to maintain but i just dont see it. i think the only reason why the turbo went is cuz the turbo is the original turbo.

951 clutch 600-1200 for parts alone. If you're lucky and have a 1pc crossover add another $1000 or so for labor and you now have a $2000 repair that has the car working just as it did right before it went out, but not better.
Water pumps? Yep, my cummins pump went out at 255,000 miles. Autozone has it for $30, and it took 10 minutes to change. Literally, 10 minutes. I went ahead and replaced both radiator hoses "while I was in there". That added 20 minutes and $50.
951 pump is 150-300, but "while you're in there" order 13 cooling hoses, and a timing and BS belt. You could DIY it for under $500 or so, but you'll be late for work, especially when a WP stud snaps.
O2 sensor, brake rotors, dist cap and rotor, lifters, pistons, turbos, oil cooler lines, PS lines, struts, shocks. These parts are all expensive.
I've still bought them all, and probably will again.
