Ok I feel like the riceburner that makes up an excuse for not running. But, I ran a friends M roadster with all the Dinan goodies on it.....then, lost 1st, 3rd, and 5th.
The synchros have been going away slowly since I got the car, and they finally let go at 140 mph. But yes, the 951 is a BLAST to drive. And, instead of racing me, the GT500 raced a GSXR 1000 from a 70 punch and was dead even. I would've definitely lost. lol

i saw an 04 cobra beat a gsxr1000 in the 1/8 mile. it was a "warm up" run so i didnt get a time but i assure you it was very fast. the mustang owner drove the car straight to his trailer. it sounded like the stock blower was traded for a turbo/tt setup.

A GSXR1000 will run 9s out of the box on stock tires.
Bikes can be beat, but it takes a WHOLE lot. A GSXR makes about 150rwhp stock. With average rider probably 600lbs. That is 4lbs per rwhp. Take a Mustang at probably 4200lbs with a driver. To make the same hp/weight it needs to be putting down 1050rwhp.
Just do the math on the physics what it takes to replicate the bike. A 500rwhp (or 600) mustang isnt running close.

ive also seen several 900+hp mustang cobras.

On an '03 Cobra, with a stock engine, we made 1,188 rwhp and 1,000 ft. lbs. of torque. However, the power that you produce will depend upon your supporting hardware.
one of my friends (a ford hater) raced an 80s fox mustang on his 2005 R1 and he said the mustang dropped him. its rare, but its possible.

correct. i was mainly talking in general. i rarely make it to the drag strip but there is two things i have learned:
1. there is no such thing as a stock cobra/gt500
2. there is no such thing as a cobra/gt500 owner that is "honest" about their setup.
im not a fan of drag racing, and find mustangs too "portly" but i do have a lot of respect for a forged ford mod motor on boost.

Good response Rogue_Ant! I've had a bunch of drag/street cars and even a small block nitroused 280z. From a roll I am shocked at how quick and fast my 951 accelerates with mild mods. I whipped one of our techs 2010 Camaro SS 6 speed from a third gear roll soundly. NO ONE thought I'd win! A buddy of mine has a low 11 second GN (used to have one myself) and from a roll I caught him with his pants down ![order](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/order.gif)
And as far as outright speed...damn! Fastest car I have owned.

Also, like Rogue mentioned a lot of these new high hp muscle cars are HEAVY. So power/weight becomes the major issue. Remember, 300hp carrying 3,000lbs is the same as 400hp carrying 4,000lbs.

Hard to beat that combo. Not sure what that 'Vette weighs. Guess for this hypothetical we'll have to strip our 951 down a bit. Lets say 2600lbs wet. 3L motor.
Up to date suspension and bigger wheels with sticky rubber. If you want to make it a fair fight we'd better add some aero to our 951 too. How about Tony G's car with a race 3L motor?

With blower setup probably about 3200lbs.
The real beauty of this setup is RELIABILITY
Coupled with the fact that should a catastrophic engine failure happen - $3500 at my choice of local dealers and have a new LS6 longblock within the week.
The price point on the C5 vettes so low you can buy a blown Z06 for what TonyG is asking for his car.

fail... a cayman is a boxter. i know that the boxter took the place of the 944 but a cayman is not the new 944. totally different. 6 cyl, mid engine...... im talking about front engine, rear trans. porsche needs to bring back 4 cyl turbo again
