Default Remove head w/o removing studs?

I have the turbo off and downpipe out. Could I unbolt the head and lift out and away from headers so that I don't need to remove exhaust studs while in the car?

Alternately, is there a brilliant way to remove the head without removing studs?

Thanks for the advice...I've broken/stripped enough bolts for today (what is the quota for these cars?)

If I remenber correctly You can lift the head without removing the headers. You need to unbolt the bolts at the crossover pipe for this to be achieved.

Head and headers can come off together. Disconnect the headers from the x-over pipe (6) bolts and remove/install them while attached to the head. Pretty easy.

That's the plan then. Now what to do with the two broken allen bolts at the front of the head?

Have done this several times. Just loosen/remove the nuts that attach the header to the head to allow room to manuver the head with headers still attached over the head studs.

I did it with PB blaster, and after letting it sit I hit it with a hammer like twice(gentle). Then vise grips should do the rest. If it's still stuborn to come out use some heat.

Weld nuts onto them and then remove while still hot.

The two times I've pulled heads on 944s I removed the head without headers. First time I didn't remove the studs, second time I did.
