so under the manifold of my 87 turbo is a little plastic thing with vacuum hoses to it ,but it seems to be broke .it slips in and out of itself.what is it?
That would either be the Cycling Valve (if there are 3 hoses going to it) or the coolant temp dependent switch for evap emissions if there are only 2.
The Cycling Valve is ~$100 and regulates the boost pressure on stock configurations. You could consider this a very opportune time to upgrade chips, wastegate and boost control, or just replace the CV.
Venturi tube, do yourself a favor and do a venturi delete. It will really clean up underneath the intake manifold and get rid of all those 20+ year old brittle parts.
