They bitch about the gear box not being usable on British road ways. I can see how it is more suited for the track, but the box in the turbo s is awesome for blasting down the highway. And I dont really have that big a gripe as they do with the road noise. crazy brits, still cool that my car is compared with a ferrari.

Eric. Magnum's car was a slow, old-school 308. Not a beefed up 328. Big difference.

It's annoying to know there was published articles that continues to praise the 944 design; weather that is the Turbo or the S, but even still the 944 to Joe the plumber is that it is not a real Porsche. This article basically says the better car is a Turbo S, with some well thought out points that it is no different than the 911 of the time.

Having said that I want to drive a Ferrari of the era for my own comparison. For Ferrari -- i've always been a fan of the 355. They are available to rent, I might just do that and make my own comparision.

A 355? So so. Go rent a 360, huge difference in BHP and shifting speeds. Cant compare.....

Honestly...does it matter what the average Joe thinks? As for enthusiasts...it's rather annoying that some don't accept them as "real Porsches", but that's because they can't accept the configuration of a front-mounted straight-4, not because the car isn't "good enough".

More importantly, they got the styling PERFECT with the 360 Then it just all went downhill from there...

The Ferrari I always have, and always will want to drive, is a Testarossa or 512. To me, that will always be the perfect Ferrari...

Hmmm I would not call the 308 "slow" but its certainly no drag car. My 951 would definately outrun my 308 GTS QV, but my E39 M5 would destroy them both. I guess they are totally different cars....like apples and oranges.

Yeah, I know. But the look is similar in my mind's eye.

Did you know that the Porsche 928 was originally going to be the car but the actor was too tall and his head was sticking out of the sunroof. The 308 was actually modified for Magnum to fit (seat lowered).

Great memories....
