Default Can't get the dp to separate from turbo

Like the title says. Nuts are off, and it won't budge. Any suggestions? I'm reluctant to hammer on that cast iron. Tried hammering a screwdriver in at the junction...nothing budged.

Been over a year and a half since took mine out so went our in the garage just now to check. Engine is all together on the engine stand. There is also a bolt besides the three nuts that mounts the down pipe to the block. It's up under the turbo so might have missed that?

Hammer or dead-blow. Won't hurt anything.

Deadblow (sand) hammer works well.

Sorry, turbo is out of car. I'll try a deadblow, but there isn't much purchase there.

But seriously, I had a DP stuck to a turbo like you and it eventually broke free but in the process I cracked the weld at the top flange of the DP. When you do finally get it off, take a look at the welds at the flange to make sure they are intact.

I know this is way out there but I saw it on a VW once, some genius decided to tack the turbo to the manifold instead of fixing a broke stud, you don't have anything crazy like that going on do you?

Might put a little propane on it -- warm it up a tad. Then whack it.

Why no mention of some PB blaster to help maybe break the rust and then hit it?

I've found that pretty much all downpipes with 100k or so on them are cracked at the upper weld. I don't think that hitting the downpipe with a hammer or anything else you wanted to throw at it would be able to crack a healthy weld....

Healthy weld. 75k easy miles. Out of car (that bracket bolt was responsible for teaching my eldest daughter some new words). PB blasted within an inch of showing up on some EPA web site. Going to cook that bitch, whack it and pray real hard.
