Default Control arms - High Strung 44

I saw some posts from earlier in the year about the High Strung 44 control arms and I am wondering if they went into production and how many people have installed them and what their impressions are after using them for a while.

Are these control arms still available (I emailed but haven't had a response yet)?

What no flowers or phone call? You just drop in unannounced like this, only to disappear off the face of the earth for years on end!!

Hey Wayne, how's the old blighty treating you? Not too many bacon butties, you're trying to strip weight out of racecars you know.

I've never heard of the arms either. Where are they meant to be built?

I run these arms. I even had them on while doing an off-track excursion and they held up with no problems or issues. I have nothing negative to say about them. They're good designed, strong, control arms.
They only thing is that you can't use other caster blocks with them. Well you can, but since the caster mount on the arm is a spherical bearing it's impossible to lock your caster settings if the caster bolt turns in the casterblock too.
So you should get the solid caster blocks without inserts from them as well if you purchase.

G'day Patrick, yeah you know how it is, all good here in the UK. Had to get reaquainted with the gym after too many pints & too much pub food hey. Judging by your avatar your mods have progressed to your bodywork these days.

The arms I'm talking about are these:

Duke,

Thanks for the feedback, especially about the castor blocks. I already run monoballs but they still use an eccentric so thats a good tip.

Cheers,

So you took your racecar over there Wayne? Have you had any trackdays in it, or are you out in a 996 from what I see?? Traitorous dog lol.

Ah yes I remember those arms now, and the harness bar. I was actually contemplating the harness bar at one stage. Good quality from appearances sake. Good to hear Duke's positive experience too.

Actually a different car...well on the outside. Wrote the old grey one off so 95% of this '86 is from that car. The '89 lives in spirit.

Yep . . . I installed them in May and with 13 track days I have to say . . . . well they are perfect. Andy does an excellent fabrication job. They fit like gloves and are very easy to adjust. As mentioned, you have to buy his solid caster blocks or there would be too much play at the rear of the arm.

I have the units using the OE replaceable ball joints, so need them or not, I'll pop a new set on before the beginning of the season and be good to go.

If you are interested I'll PM you Andy's contact information. He can powder coat them or you can paint them yourself.

Depends on whether you want the oe style ball joints or the monoball type and whether you want teflon lined rod ends or regular type. Range is 750 to 1200 I believe.

Hi Oz, long time no see. I met Allen years ago as I was his instructor at Putnam. Nice guy and the arms are certified by the PCA for all 944 classes. Not sure what the production status is but you can drop him a PM to Dave Derecola in the last post below. More pictures and links:

Some nice fabs also came out of his V8 conversion:

Default High Strung A-arms

Just received my track set today with 19mm Rennbay pins that are longer to correct geometry for lowered suspension. Alan and Andy are a pleasure to do business with and the fabrication quality is excellent!

Still can't believe that many people and stuff can fit on a truck. Where was that picture taken?
