Default Clutch Options

Looking for a clutch that isn't porsche so i don't have to pay the tax. Any chance that there is another car that has a similar clutch? Looking for something that can handle up to 350 bhp. Noob question, maybe, but let me know otherwise. It will be appreciated.

Buy from one of the vendors that deals with these cars such as Paragon. There are quite a few clutch options. A popular upgrade is a KEP1 pressure plate with a 930 disc. Not too terribly expensive. Others have used a company called Southbend for the clutch disc. I'm not sure if they make a pressure plate.

If i need to buy it all in parts, that is not a problem. just really want a reliable and not expensive clutch. And before you say it I know the trilogy(reliable/price/performance). Anyone put one together with cheaper, not necessarily porsche parts?

Southbend will rework the stock PP to provide more clamping force. They also will rebuild/resurface a stock-style disc. Probably the most economical way to do a clutch job on these cars...

To the OP. Do a search here for Southbend. There have been a few people who have gone with them and I have yet to hear a negative thing. Thanks Rogue for the PP clarification.

I have a Spec Stage 2 in mine and the engagement feels great! It does tend to chatter a slight bit with a lightened flywheel though.

I have hard more negative than positive on SPEC set-ups. Everyone says they are a lot more chattery and engagement has left some to be desired.

If you're not drag racing the car, the stock pressure plate will easily handle 375 TQ at the wheels with a the Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel, and the stock Porsche Cup disk.

I have a stock PP and a 930 disk, no problems here. I had some chatter when it was new and after 1800 miles things seem to be fine now.

+1, went through two spec clutches in another car and switched to south bend and couldn't have been happier. Will be going south bend when the 951 needs an upgrade (which will be soon )
