Default FS: 1987 944 Turbo (951) - 73K miles

Up for sale is my Guards Red '87 951 with about 73K miles. I am the original owner (technically my father is, but the car is still in the same household) and have been debating over the past few years if I should sell her (all she is doing is sitting in my garage - past two years 2007 to 2009, the car was in storage). Always garaged and detailed often. A few minor modifications done to it. The car has the typical wear and tear for a 23 year old car.

I currently have too many cars (at least for me, as to what my friends say). I just picked up a new 2011 BMW M3 last month so I need to start making room (I now have 4 BMWs and the Porsche). Right now, I am living in an apartment near my work in NYC and the car is at my mother's home in North NJ. The pictures below were the only ones I have saved on my external hard drive. The last two pictures show where she sits as of now and are the most recent pictures I have.

I am in no rush to sell her but wouldn't mind entertaining any offers. I really want her to go to someone who will continue to take care of her and make good use of her since I do not have time right now to drive her.

Car Specs:

Vehicle:
1987 Porsche 944 Turbo

  • Viper Alarm
  • ROH 17" staggered wheels on Pirelli P7000s (Width - 7.5" Front / 8.5" Rear)

Current Mileage:
73,844

Originally Purchased:
December 1986

Condition:
Great condition. This car has literally been babied since day 1 by my father. Serviced by both Porsche and a personal friend who is a Porsche mechanic. I started taking care of it in 1998. The car is always garaged and is owned by a NON-smoker.

Asking Price:
$10,000 OBO

VIN:
I will only provide the VIN to serious interested buyers only.

Flaws/Needed Repairs:
  • If the car is in rain, the taillights seem to fill up with water; I believe this is a common problem with the 944's?
  • Car was keyed in 2000 but Porsche OEM touch-up paint was used; scratch is about 8 inches long under the rear spoiler
  • Rock chips on the front (pictures below)

Additional Notes:
Since 2007, the car was placed in storage and I picked the car back up in late summer of 2009. The car wasn't registered or insured when I placed it in storage so I had the car towed on a flatbed when I brought the car back to my home in North NJ in 2009 (there's a picture below when the car was towed back).

Price reduced (I am negotiable). Also, the car never needed a new power steering pump, just needed more fluid. A new battery has been replaced as well. Car runs great!

Default Jeff, I am interested in seeing the car.

I work in the city and live on Long Island. What kind of records do you have on the car? Belts, pump, motor mounts. When were they changed? Was the car tracked? PM me your email address and telephone number. Thanks. Chuck
