I don't know if "hipster" is actually the crowd who've suddenly adopted it in the last few years, but if you've been drinking it for 25 years, you're not one of them. Whoever they are.
Is that an insult or a drinking suggestion??![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)
Haven't found anything I like better than Corona when it's 95 degrees and 100% humidity and I'm under a car on an asphalt driveway...

Can you change pads without changing rotors? My Pads throw out dust like crazy and squeal so bad its bad. I would like to change to a better semi metallic pad or something.

You'll learn more from that than 60% of the guys on Rennlist. SERIOUSLY! You will.
If it matters to you than think of it this way, you will save THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS if you take my advice. No bull****.
You do not need to change rotors with your pads. It's a 30 minute job.
However, what is the condition of your rotors?
See why you need to go read about this?
There is a great write up in the Garage Workshop section.
If you do that, you'll get much better advice from the folks on rennlist and other boards.

I appreciate the advice. I'm not new to working on cars or anything of that sort. I like to think I know how to do a brake job, most any general maintance as well as troubleshooting stuff. Clark's Garage helped me figure out what was wrong with my sunroof and what not. I used it for a bunch of stuff with my old car. I will continue to use it as it is a great resource. I like picutres to look at as well so I have a "factory service manual" ebay style but works.
I just asked that question in this thread to get a quick answer. Jeep guys said you have to change pads and rotors. I thought that was odd. I just wanted to make sure if I got a new set of pads that I wouldn't mess up my rotors. I know if you use Semi Metallic pads with one set of rotors that you can't switch to ceramic pads without changing the rotors as well.
Also I enjoy working on cars even if it something frustrating.

HPS is a great street and autocross pad. I run them on both my GTI and 951. I got a LOT of miles out of them on the GTI, 3 years or so.
I would not recommend them for track use. Did a DE on them in the GTI and had serious fade by the 3rd lap.

Sounds like a plan, and I'll have to bring a few of my own favorites...I hope you like ales! ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I should be at SIR quite a few weekends this fall, you ever go there?
Of course, I do it all the time.
If you're really, obsessively worried about it, you can always look up the specs and mic the rotors, but you should be able to get a sense of how much rotor you have left by seeing how far they're lipped.
This is, of course, assuming your rotors are not warped, but if they were, you'd be telling us about brake pedal pulsations...
It all depends on the vehicle. BMW guys say their rotors are so thin that they have to be changed with every pad change, whereas multiple pad changes on each set of rotors is pretty much SOP with Porsches.
Just don't use ceramic pads. Ever.
