tps question
So I am am the process of trying to diagnose an acceleration issue I am having and thought that it may be the tps. I unpluged the tps to see how it ran and for some reason it runs at about 500 rpm with it unpluged and around 800 with it plugged in. So the question is, isn't it supposed to have a much higher idle with the tps unplugged, not lower like I am observing? What would cause this? Thanks in advance, I am very confused now.

If your idle has not been properly set, then with the TPS connected, the DME allows more air to enter the engine via the ISC, giving you a higher idle. With the TPS disconnected, the only air entering the engine is via the bleed-screw on the throttlebody.

Yes, unplugging the TPS should raise the idle up to 1200/1500. All I can suggest is turning the air screw in the throttle body/AFM to raise your idle now. Could have been an improper adjustment by a PO that is raiseing its ugly head now. Check out 'Clarks Garage' for proper procedure.
