Default when should the fuel pump kick on?

I thought that the fuel pump would kick on when you turn the key to the accessory option, but I don't get any fuel pressure until I actually crank over the motor. Is this correct? I think this is why it takes a bit for my 951 to start especially after sitting for awhile.

Yes that is correct. The FP won't turn on until you start cranking.
