Indicators cancel automatically again!
Woohoo! A fix for the the non-cancelling turn indicator problem!
I've had "lazy" turn signals since I bought my car. Most of the time I'd have to cancel them manually. No big deal, but annoying. I never thought to put a lot of effort into tracking down the problem. I assumed that whatever it was, it was probably worn or broken.
Not so! Just needs lubrication.
I had the steering wheel off today, and I removed the turn signal/wiper switch assembly because I was having an unrelated problem, and I wanted to spray some contact cleaner into it. While it was off the car I had a closer look at the turn signal mechanism. When the turn signal stalk is moved "on", a little plastic arm moves a little bit into to centre hole of the assembly (where the steering column goes through the assembly). It all looked a bit dry, so I applied a bit of grease on the arm and a little "button" that moved to left of it (at the the 9 o'clock position on the centre hole).
That fixed it. Turn signal stalk feels smoother, and cancels every time now.
I *love* something for nothing!
