Acetone 150 octane??
I have known about acetone to be used for fuel system cleaning in very small amounts and is found in many fuel system cleaners to inlcude Techron.
However, I was not aware of it being used soley as an octane booster and being "suspected" as being about 150 octane.
Yes, very corrosive but not if used as opposoed to leaving in fuel tank/system for a while. Also, woudn't need to run more than a pint per 10 gallons to get a nice bump in octane plus a clean.
Thoughts?

Just install water/methanol injection, then you can run high boost with low intake charge temperatures all day long. Your engine will actually get CLEANER as a side benefit, rather than corroded...

And I need wheels. There's something StrekStrekStrekStreked up about running a 400+ horsepower turbo setup on 16" Cup 1s. [cue shrill protests from 951 drivers on phone dials )

Yeah, I always do the same thing.
Not yet, I can't wait...but I've promised myself that I won't do any more engine mods until I've done all the lightening and aerodynamics mods I want, and preferably solid motor and transmission mounts and extended cage.

I don't think it is increasing octane in a normal way. I would suspect it is making a better solution of the gas (some of the components of gas are in suspension) and cleaning injectors when used in small quantities. In larger quantities, I would suspect you are going to have some serious engine problems.

MIR will probably only be open for gas when they are racing. But they run Friday sat and sun every weekend. A few stations carry cam 2 if you look around. You can't fill your car up at the pump though.

So that begs the questions as to why not run a small amount (most say 1oz per gallon) at fill ups/etc instead of the 6-8$ bottle fuel system/injector cleaners? Which seem to contain acetone anyway.
Much cheaper and seems the better fuel mixing/octane "bump" is icing on the cake.
