Correction to my previous post....
I don't think they have to be M030. I think the 88 turbo s and later 951's all used the same caliper mount method. So even if you don't have the M030 option, but have the 88 turbo s or later car, you can just use either the GTS or 965 rotor as a direct bolt on. Either the big blacks or big reds will also be a direct bolt on although you'll have to swap the brake fluid line to the other side of the caliper for the big reds.

The caliper mounting is usually defined by the location of the steering – front steer get back caliper mounting (like ours) and 911s have rear steer so they have front caliper mounting.
Front / rear steer refers to where the steering rack is located – in front or behind the wheel center line.

So remind me what the 88 Turbo S and 89 951 front calipers are again? Aren't they the same as the big blacks?
If not, big blacks and either GTS or 965 rotors are a direct bolt on for my car?

88TS and 89 951 front caliipers are commonly referred to as S4 calipers since they are the same as mounted on 928S4's. They're the "inbetween" option that came with the M030 package and mount the same as BR or BB calipers.

What sort of improvement is it going from the '89 factory stuff to BB and 965 rotors? How much larger are the pads, I assume they don't use the same pad fitment?
I have TONS of pads for the front calipers right now as it's the same fitment as Stoptech ST40's, which I've had on lots of previous cars...

Any Hawk Blues in fair shape you'd be interested in selling for not a whole, whole lot? I've got calipers and rotors for the change, but am planning on holding out until I need to replace either my pads (one event on the fronts) or the rotors (more likely to go first). I already outbrake everyone I've faced in my run group (3 - intermediate solo), so the stock small blacks are still serving me well (and note that guys with ego's as big as their GT3's don't let "slow" 944's go by, even if they are faster).

The big reds take a pad that is the same length as the turbo s but about ½’ taller. There is a lot more rotor contact area on the rotors for the big reds (larger diameter). Not many 16” wheels will fit over the big reds….
