Factory service manual, transmission section is your best bet.

If you have a pre AOR LSD, you will have to update the LSD to the Turbo S parts, since those are the only parts still available from porsche. So you need the friction discs and the pressure cups, which were around $400-500 worth of parts, last time I checked.

I dont recall ever seeing a write up on here. Its not that difficult to pull the LSD and to open it up. Just a metal jig-saw puzzle. Goes back together the same way it comes apart. Only quirky thing is the allen head bolts that hold the case together. They are a high torque spec on a shallow face bolt, so they are quite easy to strip out the allen socket. I would recommend buying some spares.

Did you ever do the rebuild? If so, any pointers?

It's one of the easiest rebuilds to do. It can be hard to get the carrier cover bolts out as they are loctited in. but that's about it.

Open it up, meausre thicknesses and condition, replace worn discs and re-assemble.

The manual has very good directions. Section 32, 32-12 has LSD. Vol 6

its very crucial to get the total inside package thickness to factory specs! If this is not followed the LSD unit will never work right, I used to think the thicker the package or tighter the more lockup? This is NOT true, talk to Gaurd transmission they are experts on the subject and can supply you with any of the specified thickness plates and friction retainers, cup springs etc...

Factory stuff is pretty limited and some is NLA

The factory manual makes rebuilding very clear, as are the dimentions. The bellville spings allow for a range of thickness. The slip torque limits prove that the pack is together correctly. Slip torques is not representative of the locked torque under load. The static slip torque and LSD operation are often misunderstood.
