Well, it's nice to know that "they" are right every now and then. I trial fit my 17x9 ET55 Cup 2's with Toyo RA1 275-40-17's on the front of the car tonite.

I'm happy to say they fit fine! Plenty of strut/spring clearance, don't rub at full lock or hit my brake ducting hose and tuck inside the fender well. I am running -3.3 degrees of camber.

Here are pics...

cool Thanks! Mine are 9.5/18, so it won't be exactly the same, but I may get 265's in the front.

Hey doc,
Shouldn't a 275/35/18 fit in the same space with, perhaps a touch more clearance? I ask because Tire Rack gives me a fitment caution on the 275/35/18 but not on the 275/40/18. Shouldn't the 35 sidewall take up less space? I'm talking about my car BTW.

It won't be as tall of a tire, as a 40 series, but you're running an 18" wheel, not a 17" like I am. A 35 series tire isn't 1" shorter than a 40 series, that's why they're warning you it may not fit.

Yeah, I know it isn't an inch shorter, but I can't figure out why they wouldn't warn about the 40 but would warn about the 35. What am I missing here. Does the shorter sidewall cause the tire to bulge a bit more, or something?

Congrats Doc! This car owes you some fun!

Hey E, this is a good site for comparing wheel and tire combos, RimsnTires. I think TR may be warning about the tire diameter difference and its effect on the speedo reading.

WEll, either Porsche or the P.O. rolled the front and rear fender lips. I'm guessing it was the P.O.

Mine or yours? Porsche rolled the rears of mine, fronts aren't rolled...

Mine. Definitely rolled on the fronts. I could feel where the "rolling" ended...I also found a nice cozy screw in my stinking tire.
