AC delete or repair?

Come visit some time.... see which you prefer riding in... AC or No AC....
The turbo needs a new evaporator at least... might need more, but I am starting with the evap coil and going from there...
OP, keep it or delete it... it is your car, but like I already said.. you did try to use it once.. and might just want to use it again some time!

Marco, OEM is cheaper, especially after shipping and VAT.
Griffith's makes great stuff, but I couldn't see spending the cash in Norway or Sweden...and maybe not even Northern Europe!

$30 R134a conversion kit and my AC started working again. Not exactly ideal, but I figured it was DOA anyways. Three years later it still cools the cabin of the car without ever being recharged in that time frame.

One might argue that the AC doesn't rob much power; but deleting it does remove a good 40 pounds. Also, the alternator gets relocated to a lower point on the car, which also takes it further away from the hot engine, improving its performance and longevity.
I generally don't drive in really hot weather, so it suits me fine. We also have a really good removable sunroof on our cars.

I honestly think this boils down to one's location and car usage. If I raced, I would almost certainly pull the AC, if the car was a purpose built car. If it was a dual purpose car, I would keep the AC. Living in the Southern U.S., it get's just brutally hot here.
I drove across the entire Southern U.S. two Summer's ago, without any AC. There is no way in Hell, (and it really was Hell!) that I would ever do that again. Though it was survivable in the high desert of Az, NM and TX, it was a totally diferent story by the time I got too central southern Texas. It was 99* F and the humidity was 99%. It remained that way all the way to the East coast of Florida. Even at night the temp and humidity were 90*f and 99% humidity. so there was never a possibility of cooling off.
So, I think this is a question of location and car usage.
Today, in Florida, it was 91* and 90% humidity. I realized, while driving the car to the hardware store, after working on it out in the heat, that it's time to recharge the AC with some more 134A. The 134A charge has lasted for 2 years, since getting home from the trip across the country.
I can live with that performance for 27 bucks.
